A while back I did an experiment on receiving, while it was very eye opening, one thing that really stood out to me was how I manifest abundance in my life. What I mean by this is how do I allow, or accept, abundance in my life. This shows up in various ways.
Perhaps the best way to unpack this is to share a few stories. For me, I feel really full when I am giving back. I love working with my clients and I love the other work that I do. I’m in my sweet spot, connecting with people, teaching, training, mentoring and providing support through various platforms. This work fills me and gives me the needed energy to keep up with my ever growing task list. On the flip side, sometimes this abundance can be toxic because it’s easy to have too much of a good thing.
Balance is what allows us to be open to the abundance in our life. I believe we all have abundance that surrounds us, yet oftentimes we are blind to it because we are off balance. I speak from experience, I’ve totally failed at balance in my life and when it caught up with me it was like the carpet was pulled out from under my feet, leaving me on my ass. While I learned a lot during this period of my life, they were really hard lessons. I had an abundance to learn, it was painful but I’m grateful I’m on the other end now.
“In essence, I found abundance at the bottom of the barrel.”
Even in difficult times there are bright spots of abundance. These are the moments when you find out who you can count on and who is going to hit the border. It doesn’t mean these are bad people, maybe just not the right people for you. During my darkness I learned who was willing to stand by my side, hold my hand and look out for my best interest, even if that meant giving some tough love. In essence, I found abundance at the bottom of the barrel.
From where I sit it’s in these moments we have to make a decision. We can sit an have a pity party and dwell on what we can’t control; or we can choose to rise above look for the lesson and keep moving forward making the necessary adjustments. The latter is not an easy choice but it’s one that has the least regrets. It takes courage and faith to move through tough times and look for the abundance in the moment. Trust me, when you look for it, you’ll find it.
